WOODLANDS STEWARDSHIP AND COMMERCIAL MANAGEMENT
Commercial
wood products at Hutton– Loyd Tree are saw logs, firewood, kindling,
and split fence rails. Timber
management plans consisting of 2.5 million board feet of mostly grade 2 medium
and small saw logs. Hutton-Loyd
Tree Farm’s Timber management plan has 4 goals: 1)
improve commercial strength of woodlands through conscientious
harvesting, follow up site preps and thinning for timber stand improvements, 2)
improve and protect watershed, 3) improve
and increase effectiveness of wildlife and botanical habitat, and 4)
improve esthetic attractiveness of woodlands.

Tree Farm was recognized as Kentucky State Tree Farm of the year in 1989 and
farm recipient of Governor’s Award for the Environment in Forestry Management
in 1988.
Hutton-Loyd
Tree Farm is a member of the Kentucky Woodland Owners Association. The owner is
on the KWOA board of directors, Governor's Best Management Practice’s board,
and Silvicultural Committee to Ag Water Quality Board.
